Here's what's going on at my home this rainy Monday...
We got the bookshelf out of the formal living room and it is now happily living with my Mother-in-law. I have been so excited to get it moved out so I can finally get this room the way I want it. Now the only problem is, how do I want it? I just look at this room and draw a blank. The only thoughts I am thinking is kinda negative ones like these..
1. Needs a much bigger rug
2. It's too stuffy for me. I get that it's a "formal" living area but I want it to be cozy and fun at the same time and it is not saying either to me.
3. I have no idea what to put on the walls.
4. It also needs some sort of coffee table, books, colorful accents, pillows...
I think it will just take some time to pull it together but for now my goal is to hit up lots of thrift stores and see what treasures I can find. I know it's rough but someone's gotta do it. ; )

After....
We still have to put the handles on the drawers and we would like to put a white tile backsplash in but I already LOVE the transformation!
I just love being in the kitchen now!

Monday at My Home
Hello my beauties!
So sorry I haven't posted in a while but don't worry I am still here and doing great! We have been so busy with the whole kitchen project, planning Evie's birthday party, prayer week at our church, and Evelette started swim lessons that are twice a week, it has just been a blur!
Yesterday we had an ice cream party for Evelette who is turning 2 tomorrow. As you can see we all had a blast!
Will post pics of the kitchen soon!

Saint Richard
My family and I like to call my husband "Saint Richard" because he pretty much is putting up with me!
We spent 3 hours on Thursday night sanding all the cabinets (we decided to do it the old fashioned way). On Friday night we spent another 3 or so hours taping and prepping for paint as well as another couple hours this morning. After we were prepped, Evie and I left for Papa to do the painting. We bought a spray gun at Lowes and it worked fairly well but there are definite drip marks in places. We will wait until tomorrow so it will dry completely and then lightly sand the drip marks. Richard was able to get 1 coat of primer on and 1 coat of regular paint on today. We will do another coat or two tommorrow.
So all in all we are hoping to finish tomorrow at least with the painting. We will most likely have to do a little more light sanding and paint touch up which I will be able to do myself and give Saint Richard a break!
Richard, Thank you so much for all your hard work, I love you so much!
BTW did I mention our kitchen was looking more like a clean room where someone might be operating on a body? lol I hope this project won't be the last of us!
What it looks like right now. Not exactly pretty yet but it's getting there!

I got the ok!!!
Yay it finally happened! After months of going back and forth whether or not to pay someone else to do it I finally got the okay to do our kitchen! Yippee if I wasn't so sick I would do cartwheels!
Thanks to this Do It Yourself magazine where it gave great directions for painting cabinets yourself. Therefore saving us a whole lotta mula.
The main reason we decided to do it ourselves. (better alternative to hours of sanding.)

Hopefully it will look something like this...
Okay probably not even close. But isn't this kitchen gorgeous that Jen from Made by Girl transformed?!!
Stay tuned!

Heather
I love Heather! The plant that is!
Doesn't this arrangement make you want to smile?! I love how Heather blooms so much and how it will last forever in a vase. I thought it would be perfect to put in my new trophy vase from Goodwill.
Here's another Goodwill gem! More flowers please!

Monday at My Home
Happy Monday my Luvs! I hope you had an amazing weekend with loved ones, watching the super bowl, and loosening your jeans for all the junk food!
So sorry I am such a tease but ever since I saw these amazing orange lamps I have been obsessed! I found a pair of hideous lamps at Goodwill this weekend and made it my mission to transform them.
I am so bummed that I did not take a before pic, chalk it up to my constant impatience! But here is a during picture. My generous Dad let me paint them in his shop. They aren't the color that they look like in this picture, they are a true orange.
I don't have a sofa table yet so I am using some T.V. trays with magazines and books to make them higher. Definitely a temporary fix.
Here's my sweet Evelette. "Um, Mom I am trying to watch leap frog!"
She kept on saying "Go ni night Mama?!" so I let her watch a show this morning, to tide her over till her afternoon nap. Such a treat!
