Monday at My Home

Happy Monday my Luvs!

Remember my pink kitchen island? Well I really loved that thing and I still can't believe I sold it but when I was practically given an even nicer one for $10 I couldn't refuse. I mostly love it for it's large countertop and open shelving.

We hosted a garage sale at our house a couple weekends ago where a few families sold there stuff at our house. One of the items was this kitchen island that was going for $75. I thought it was cool and all but I really loved my pink island and didn't really want to start another project. But when it hadn't sold halfway through the day and it started to rain, the owner offered to sell it to me for $10! How could I refuse?!!

It just needed a few upgrades and a little love...

We ended up sanding it, painting it, replacing the top, and adding new hardware. Not bad for $10 bucks huh?

Our backyard situation

Ever since we moved into our home, over three years ago, we have been wanting to rip off the paint chipping/rotting deck. So this year we finally decided to do it. However after we had the contractor come out and give us a bid and ripped off the whole deck to get it all ready... We discovered rot under our patio door... so now we have to replace our sliding glass door and repair all the rot damage on the house. Yikes! So now what we thought would be a fairly "easy" project, has turned too be a bit of a nuisance!

So while all the construction is going on, I am daydreaming of it all be finished for my birthday...

Monday at My Home

Happy Monday my Luvs!

Yesterday my husband and I celebrated our 6th anniversary. My how time flies! I can't believe it's already been six years, time flies when your having fun! ; )

So I know most couples don't usually go goodwill shopping on their anniversaries but I guess we aren't most couples. I found some super yummy treasures and gave the lamps good makeovers. I spray painted the bases a metallic gold and found some shades at Target.

Now where to put them?!!!

Transformation

I could have waited to share this cute little transformation for Monday at My Home. But I am just too impatient!

My mom found a pair of these adorable tree trunk side tables at Goodwill for $15. They had weird rectangular black glass tops and the tables themselves were all chipped up.
So with a little love, a few coats of white spray paint and a new round glass top they were completely transformed!

Chic right?

Turkish kilim rug on the way!

I am BEYOND excited that this antique Turkish rug is on it's way to our home! I saw one similar on a site for $800 and decided to see what was available on Ebay, where I found this one for $179! What can I say, I love a good bargain!

Monday at My Home

My latest DIY was very inexpensive. I painted a canvas I already had all white, then I bought some bright pink duct tape and laid it on in different angles. It made for a fun art piece...

Monday at My Home

Happy Monday my Luvs!
For this Monday at My Home I am sharing some shots from my Instagram of this past week and weekend.
I tackled a couple of diy's that I wanted to do and I think they turned out pretty fab! I also took some pretty cute pics of my babes. ; )

First off, I "barrowed" a mexican blanket from my Mom that she wasn't using and put it in baby Hugh's nursery. Doesn't it add a cool global feel to the room?

And here's the little man himself, hanging out in Nana's laundry! I really can't get enough of him!

Remember that painted tray diy I featured a while ago? Well I finally got around to tackling it myself...
First I painted it a basic white.

Second, when it was good and dry I taped off a fun pattern.

Finally I painted it gold and peeled off the tape. After a little touch up viola! LOVE!

Another diy that I have been wanting to try is this friendship bracelet that I spied on another Instagram.

Pretty cute right?

And last but not at all least, my sweet Evelette dressed up in her Sunday best. Love this girl!

My family room pillows at Target!

Remember my post showing you my family room here? Well I was just browsing Target pillows online and they have the same pillows! I got mine for my birthday from Etsy and they were double the cost! Just thought I'd let you know in case anyone wants to snatch them up!

Monday at My Home ( a day late)

It baffles me how painting my chairs white turned into a whole mini makeover! It seems like thats what usually happens, I change one thing and then I need to change everything to match the thing I changed. It started out by wanting to take the red out of our dining room so I painted the chairs white and then switched the curtains to West Elms Ikat curtains. Then I decided that the black on the walls was too harsh and the multiple prints was too much. So I painted the stripes white and figured a way to "copy" an amazing horse canvas from Z gallerie that you can see here. I did a little research and found that Kinkos prints the biggest/cheapest/best quality for large pictures. I chose a picture, that my sister took, of my parents horse named Jock and Kinkos took care of the rest. They even put it on a cork board for me so it is nice and sturdy. I wanted it to be framed to give it that finished look and I remembered how I'd seen other people make frames from molding from a hardware store.

It sounded simple enough...
Did I ever tell you guys when I ran over our kitchen cabinets when they were drying in the garage? Well I did and amazingly enough they were hardly even scratched, I joke with people that I was testing the quality! Anyways that's what happend when we came home from church on Sunday and both Richard and I were super bummed. But nevertheless my sweet hubby ran out to get the supplies and made me another one! It was a pretty easy project besides the fact that we had to do it twice!

What do you think?!!!

BTW now we have a solution to our forgetfulness, if something is drying on the floor of the garage we hang down a piece of flagging to remind us not to pull in. I highly recommend! ; )

Monday at My Home

I have been dreaming away of how to work for some extra mula to buy this amazing horse canvas from Z gallerie when my husband said "why don't you just use some pics that we already have of horses?" Silly hubby that would be too logical! Time after time he out smarts me!Lol I can just take one of our horse pics and play around with it in photo shop!
Now I just need to find the cheapest place to get a canvas made... Any suggestions?

On my coffee table

Happy Thursday my Luvs!
Today is so bright and sunny here that I decided to snap a couple pics of my coffee table. I love mixing up little vignettes in my home. It is like therapy for me. ; )

In case you are wondering where I got any of these items....
The mirrored box and orange tray are from Z gallerie, the elephant bowl is from Home Goods, the coasters are from Anthropologie, and the Kelly Wearstler book Hue is off Amazon.

Monday at My Home

I know it's not Monday but I am getting a late start because of our weekend away. Which by the way was fabulous, lots of snuggling by the fire while it snowed outside. I painted the chairs before we left but the cold weather made for poor drying conditions so I had to do some touch up work when we got back. I was finally able to put them together today, with the help of my Evie handing me the screws and screwdriver (so sweet).

I love how they turned out, really anything white makes my heart sing! Aren't they much more cheery?!!

Monday at My Home

So I know that our new floor might not excite everyone, but for us who have been living with the nasty linoleum since we moved in, it is super exciting. My husband was really not looking forward to putting down new linoleum because you have to cut it just right and rent a roller to make it all flat and smooth, it is quite a process. However when I discovered that there were "peel and stick" vinyl tiles at our local Lowes and Home Depot we were off in a flash to learn all about them. We found out that they are really much easier to install than regular linoleum and actually very cheap (only 99 cents a square foot). They still took some tedious work with all the cutting and such but I think they were a whole lot less work than the alternative. We went with a white marble "looking" tile and I am so pleased with the finished product! The two bathrooms and laundry room look so fresh and clean now, it really made a world of difference! Don't you agree?!

Monday at My Home

Sometimes I wonder how we are going to survive the holidays when just after a crazy weekend we all have some sort of injury or sickness? I am telling you a little newborn with a fever and stuffed up nose is the saddest thing!!! We partied hard but had a blast. Now we are just nursing ourselves back to health on this bright and sunny day in Oregon.

One of our ventures this weekend was a father daughter dance at our church and I was practically in tears I was so excited for Evelette! She had the time of her life and I am so glad we got pics to capture such a special time.
