Resolutions Day 3

Hey y'all! My name is Carly, and I'm the author of Honey and the Moon. I'm a full time student, a wife, and a momma to two sweet puppies. Thank you so much to Leah for the opportunity to post at her fabulous blog.

Well, the topic here is New Year's resolutions, and when Leah first brought up this topic I was a little concerned because I had no idea what my resolution's were going to be this year. Luckily, it came to me quickly. I'll show you a few images to better explain.

What do all of these cute little things have in common?

They're all DIY sewing projects! Isn't that shower curtain so chic? And that framed initial would be perfect for a nursery. The apron, perfect for a housewarming gift! The only problem?...I have no idea how to sew. I come from a long line of seamstresses, my grandma being very talented with a needle and thread...but not me, I barely know how to sew a stitch.

So my New Year's resolution this year is to learn how to sew. I have no desire to sew anything magnificent, but I'd love to know some of the basics, enough to complete simple DIY projects. Easy enough, right?

Well, I hope you join me as I follow through with my resolution, and I hope you keep me accountable to it too! I'll be sure to detail my learning, mishaps, and successes all at my blog.

Thanks again to Leah for having me at her blog! And as Leah would say...

Luvs! x

I love DIY projects yet afraid to take them on for two reasons: (1) I may not finish a project, and (2) the finished project may look come out as I had imagined it. I am very much into artwork, maybe I can be more expressive that way to let my creative juices flow.

I really like your resolution. It is simple and something that can be achieved. It's always hands to know how to sew a button that has fallen off of a coat.

So nice to meet ya Carly.

Oh that's a good one! You'll be addicted once you learn how to do it : )

I don't get to sew as much as I would like because I don't have a space for it. I have to drag the darn thing out everytime I want to use it.

Learning to sew was my resolution last year, but I never got around to it :( I am determined once again to learn this year because I need to make that shower curtain!! Adorable!

I can sew straight lines and that is about it! My sewing machine hasn't seen the outside of it's box in probably 6-7 years. I have been aching to whip that bad boy out. Good luck, you can do it!

This is a great NY's resolution. I'm able to sew but only out of necessity. I've been meaning to sign up for sewing lessons and pattern reading for some time now. Maybe I should just make the time and learn too! Good luck Carly! I'm sure you'll be making all those diy crafts before we know it. : )
