A change

Okay quick post before I get too nauseous; ) I wanted to show a little change that I have made to the front room and to also ask advice (one of my favorite things about blogging! Hello!)

As you can see the only change I have made is moving the green couch in front of the bookshelf. I thought it would be a fun change because this room seems so hard to arrange.

So my question is... What is wrong with this room and what is missing? It may just be the Morning sickness speaking but it is bugging me!

Hope you have some great input for this crazy hormonal lady!

I love the couch in front of the bookcase, it is just screaming to be sat in with a juicy book! Maybe you need something with some more weight on the opposite side, like a heavier table or some heavier and taller accessories on the existing table.

I say go for some sort of table on top of the rug, and also maybe a fun colored throw pillow on each of the striped chairs? My two cents! ;)

I must say, I love that green sofa! When I look at the picture, it almost seems a little too heavy on that side of the room and maybe that's what is throwing you off? I'm not exactly sure whats behind the two striped chairs but try adding something with a bit of dimension or depth to balance out the room. Good luck!

I have that couch to and it stumps me quite often. It's small, yet it's big, you know? :) I would add some sort of coffee table & what if you painted or stained that piano turquoise? That is a crazy suggestion I know, but I think it would be fab & you would definitely be the one to do it!

I think the color scheme is great, but I think it looks like it's missing something to you because you need texture. Pillows, throws, baskets, boxes, hooks, frames...lay it on! It just needs some depth to the design. Love it where your going with it though!!

That sofa is fabulous, to say the least.

The room looks great. I love the zebra print! Maybe you need a splash of another color.... Orange, perhaps? You could do some sort of floral arrangement in orange or even a big vase between the chairs (sans flowers).

PS... Morning sickness is the worst! I hope you are feeling okay!

I love the sofa! What a great shape. I think it needs a coffee table in front of it and end tables on either side. I think the plant on the left can go either behind the end table or in a corner.

I love the place for the couch! Really good idea.
And I guess for the "missing" part, if anything is missing (which I am not sure I think there is, the room is beautiful) perhaps it would be a small "coffee" table for your cup in between the chairs and the couch.

Congratulations on your happy news, I hope you are not too nauseous despite it being happy nausea.

A coffee table...you need a glam coffee table :)

And a tall house plant/tree on one side of the piano :)

I like how the couch looks in front of the shelves, but only at that angle. looking from the side I like how you had the room arrnged before better.

Ahhh!! I missed the first announcement. CONGRATULATIONS! = ) So exciting!! I hope the morning sickness subsides very soon...I know its not fun!

I love this room! Maybe it needs some pillows?

I think a bigger natural jute rug underneath your fluffy rug. Plus a smaller glass or clear table.
Looks great!

I don't think I'm crazy about the couch in front of the bookcase. Since they are both "heavy" items, I would space them out in the room. But that's just my opinion. You have way more talent than I do! And the room looks great :)

I agree with Kendra. Something heavier on the opposite side to balance out the sofa. It's a terrific room... or put the 2 chairs by the bookshelf and sofa on the other side.

Hi There! I think that you should switch the sofa and the chairs. I think the sofa covers up too much of the book shelves and that having the chairs in front of it will allow access to it and make it not really look like you put a sofa in front a book shelf...you know what I mean? And then a nice glass coffee table in the middle to keep the room open and show of that shaggy rug. Good luck and congrats!!!

Maybe you've already tried this arrangement, but I think it would look better to switch the sofa with the chairs. The sofa and bookshelf makes that side of the room heavy. Just an idea. I love those chairs, love the fabric!!

i agree with some of the comments already made...either switch the sofa and chairs, or add an end table next to the sofa where the plant is.

love the chairs and the sofa!

some where I missed the baby annoucement - congratulations!

i'm always switching things up in my house too! i'm thinking the sofa with 2 side tables (and the lamps from the piano) infront of the window. the 2 chairs infront of the sidetable and add a coffee table. i would move the piano, perhaps beside the shelves. hope this helps.

wanted to let you know that I have an Eames {style} Chair giveaway happening on my blog right now :)

Leah it is the morning sickness talking as the room is fab the way it is. If you need retail therapy throw a hot pink pillow on the sofa and some pink roses on the piano and your laughing! Sinead x

Not sure what the opposite wall looks like....is there a wall? I like how the sofa in front of the bookcase looks when you are facing it, but I agree with the others, the room looks imbalanced. I have a thing for windows too, so I think the piano placement in front of the beauty of a window you have there may be what is key. Is it possible to place the piano on the wall opposite the bookcase? Is there enough room to place it on the wall beside the window? Good luck. Love the colors!

Yahoooooooooooo! So excited for you! Congrats!!! I am a little behind! :) You poor thing. . . I know that nauseous feeling oh too well. Take good care of yourself my friend. LOVE your couch. Maybe heavy on that side, but sure you can balance it out. Maybe something chunky between the chairs? Hugs to you!

The green sofa is so yummy. Love it in front of the bookshelves. It seems like everyone is moving their furniture around lately.

Congrats! Very exciting when your starting to feel prego.

i love the new arrangement! i think you are missing some accent pieces. a coffee table or ottoman and maybe a larger rug that you could put under the small rug. It could be a really simple rug but it will help define the space.

I would also add something decorative on the table between the chairs, maybe a nice bouquet of silk peonies!

The first idea that popped into my head was that I think I'd swap the chairs & the sofa -- switch places! I think you need a "heavy" piece to anchor the room, & that beauty would do just the trick, especially with a nice ceramic stool by its side!

Happy playing! ♥

New here! I love the couch!! Want one! I was admiring your room and thought I would try the couch opposite the piano. Hard to be sure since we cant see much of the room that exists outside the frame. I am not a fan of it in front of the bookcase. I would even consider moving the couch in front of the window and move the piano elsewhere if possible.
Also agree that you need a bigger floor anchor. I love those side chairs too!
Congratulations, btw!

yay! Congrats on your news! So excited for you!

I agree with some of the other comments on swapping the couch and chairs to give it more balance and maybe a coffee table in between.

I say add a pretty coffee table, something on the table between those fab french chairs, and a tall plant or artwork on the non-window side of the piano. Looks great!

Leah love! This room is gorge! So, I didn't read through all the comments, but maybe turn the rug diagonal?

Also, and translucent coffee table would be amazing....
I'm currently swooning over those.

When you're feeling better (did you get zofran?!?) check out the beginnings of my home tour!

Would LOVE your input!

love the look you've started!

my suggestion (w/o reading other comments): 1) switch the chairs and sofa or 2) do #1 but place the chairs where the camera is (where you're standing to take the pic). #2 opens up a few sitting areas and keeps the bookshelf open, making it purposeful.

good luck ;)

Pink or orange lumbar pillow (to scale) on the green loveseat and maybe a tall mirror to lean against the wall to the left of the bookcase? Love the rug idea... how about a new pot for your palm and maybe moving it to the corner by the windows for more light, and placing a floor lamp behind the loveseat, instead? I'm not sure about the furniture placement-- what if you turned the loveseat on more of an angle, like a chaise lounge and placed a snazzy little bench in front of the bookcase? What do you think of lining the curtains to make them a little more opaque and maybe adding a contrasting ironed-on vertical border? Get better-- I remember morning sickness all too well! Stay hydrated! -Andrea <3

I think you should put the couch by the window, the chairs by the bookshelf, and the piano wither where the chairs are, or next to the couch. (And I LOVE LOVE LOVE that couch!!)
And by the way, congrats on your baby in coming! :)

I love your couch. It seems like the room needs a focal point? And maybe something to unify throughout, like a color in throws, pillows and accessories?
