Sick of Chevron?

Okay so I wouldn't say that I am sick of Chevron but this gray and white Herringbone rug from Urban Outfitters is super refreshing. Love!

White spaces

Next time I decorate a room I think I am just going slap a lot of white paint down and add a few key pieces and I will be mad for it....

We still have to put the handles on the drawers and we would like to put a white tile backsplash in but I already LOVE the transformation!
I just love being in the kitchen now!

Saint Richard

My family and I like to call my husband "Saint Richard" because he pretty much is putting up with me!

We spent 3 hours on Thursday night sanding all the cabinets (we decided to do it the old fashioned way). On Friday night we spent another 3 or so hours taping and prepping for paint as well as another couple hours this morning. After we were prepped, Evie and I left for Papa to do the painting. We bought a spray gun at Lowes and it worked fairly well but there are definite drip marks in places. We will wait until tomorrow so it will dry completely and then lightly sand the drip marks. Richard was able to get 1 coat of primer on and 1 coat of regular paint on today. We will do another coat or two tommorrow.
So all in all we are hoping to finish tomorrow at least with the painting. We will most likely have to do a little more light sanding and paint touch up which I will be able to do myself and give Saint Richard a break!
Richard, Thank you so much for all your hard work, I love you so much!

BTW did I mention our kitchen was looking more like a clean room where someone might be operating on a body? lol I hope this project won't be the last of us!

So many exciting things, unfortunately doesn't leave me much time for blogging. I will set aside some time soon!

I need help!

I need some help people!!! You know how I have been telling you that I am dying to paint my Kitchen cabinets? Well it has been driving me mad, I just want to paint them and be done. However my husband thinks we should have them sanded first and then paint. So I need to hear as much of your input as possible! Because the thought of sanding our cabinets seems impossible and I don't think we can afford to pay someone to do it. So what say you?

My HIDEOUS Kitchen

It's kinda funny because lately I feel like all my conversations start with "well you know on the Nate Berkus show..." I have never been a daytime television watcher. But I LOVE his show. I dvr it and watch it at night, there are so many amazing ideas on his show!
So anyways last week he had an episode on painting and he showed how you could instantly update your kitchen by painting your cabinets YOURSELF! Normally I am not the one to shy away from a paint project but the thought of painting my own kitchen cabinets seemed like a no no. Shouldn't you pay a professional? Not according to Nate! So I am going to conquer my fears and paint them! My kitchen is so hideous and why should I wait and save up and waste all that money when I can do it myself? Right? Right!
I thought I would show you some pretty white kitchens that I dream about having before I show you the hideous freak show.

And now my hideous kitchen....
And you wonder why I haven't shown it before!
Sorry I didn't even clean it up before I took these pics.
And yes the appliances do not match.

Don't count on seeing this project completed too soon. I am right in the middle of another paint project, painting our Guest Bedroom to turn it into Evelette's big girl room! So many projects so little time!

Likey or no likey

I have been debating what to spend my CSN gift card on that I won from my darling Erica's blog Tiptoe Butterfly. I finally won a giveaway, thanks Erica!!!

I have been eyeing these cute white office chairs at a local Marshalls but just discovered they have them on CSN! They aren't exactly what they looked like in the store so I am casting a vote you like or no like? I am hesitant when buying more modern things because I am not sure how it will go with my more vintage items.
What would I do without your glorious input my Luvs?!!

Monday at My Home

Happy Monday Luvs!

I have been busy working on my vanity after all your wonderful suggestions last Monday!

I decided that I definitely needed a mirror, I mean no vanity is complete without it! I found a very cute and affordable mirror at my favorite store, the Goodwill, for $12. I also found a cute vintage silver tray and a blue and gold floral box. I have been searching for a stool at a few Goodwill's but could not find any. I about gave up until my sister called and said that when she was at their rental property she found a cute little stool in the garage! I was so excited! All it needed was a couple coats of paint and some new fabric! The other items that I used I already had. I am so proud of the finished look and I am even more proud of how much the whole makeover cost... $30! Yay, that always feels so good when you can do a lot with just a little!
Hope you love it as much as I do!

Movie Home

Designer Richard Hallberg hit a home run with this apartment for the new movie Wall Street. I love how luxurious and lavish it is but at the same time it still exudes a strong musculine feel.

The mostly white and black color pallette always is the perfect go to. And check out the faux gold bars on the desk, definitely Wall Street worthy!
