This is a remarkable makeover of an old farm house kitchen shared on Apartment Therapy. I love how they gave it a total modern feel but still managed to retain some of it's original rustic charm.

Greenwich Apartment

The layers of fabrics, artwork, and colors draws me to writer Rita Konig's apartment in Greenwich Village. I think she really understands that it's all in the details and thats truly inspiring! You could run off and try and find new items to achieve this look but I think some good thrift markets would do the trick. With that I am off to pack up the babes to head to our local Goodwill.

Simply girly

What a gorgeous SoHo loft Devon Radziwill has! She chose a less is more approach and the little feminine touches I LOVE! I don't think I could live here without adding more (I have a more is more approach to decorating) , but it's really fun to look at!

Totally LOVE

I totally LOVE Stark creative director Ashley Stark's Manhattan home tour in this months Elle Decor magazine. I love every piece of furniture, they all seem one of a kind. I also love all the artwork with touches of humor like all the candy jars in the kitchen and hand chairs. What's a home without some fun? ; )

Think it out

The latest Lonny showed off their features editor, Robert Leleux's, Manhattan apartment. Which truth be told I thoroughly enjoyed!
These different amazing homes that I see in magazines and online never cease to amaze me. Which just goes to show that I am in no way a designer. They always seem so thought out and complete. I however just fly by the seat of my pants and sadly you can tell. So the lesson I am going to learn? Come up with a complete plan for a room and then set out to accomplish it. That way I don't just go for whatever catches my eye.

What kind of decorator are you? Do you have a plan or do you just go by your feelings?

Beautiful house

How Mama's have successful blogs is beyond me! I hardly have a second to reply to emails let alone writing a blog post. However on this particular Monday morning, miraculously I have a small block of time to pop in and share a home tour from House Beautiful. I saw it while flipping through the latest issue while nursing baby Hugh. ; )
I was really intrigued by the dark wall colors with the bright pops of color, a very welcoming and cozy effect.

A new leaf

I am the sort of person that is drawn to a broad spectrum of design and decor. But lately it seems I have turned a new leaf in my own homes decor. Instead of being drawn to the dark, dramatic, and vintage I am leaning towards lighter colors, and modern lines.
This home for instance that is being featured at Style at Home is a great example of what I am loving right now.
There is still the great mix of amazing vintage pieces but paired with all white spaces and modern lines. Gorgeous right?
