Saturday morning macaroons

I actually did it! I conquered the very finicky french macaroons this weekend and I am so proud of myself. Now I think I might have a new addiction though. ; )

Monday at My Home

My latest DIY was very inexpensive. I painted a canvas I already had all white, then I bought some bright pink duct tape and laid it on in different angles. It made for a fun art piece...

That feminine influence

One of the things that I love about Adore magazine is that they always have these bright and feminine rooms. These two rooms below are my favorite of the newest issue, they both scream kick up your feet and eat a cupcake (or at least they do to me).
And you all know that I have a soft place in my heart for pink in the kitchen!
Happy Thursday my Luvs!

Peonies for Breakfast!

Evelette and I really thought our new bunch of Peonies looked good enough to eat this morning! However then we would have lost our gorgeous centerpiece. ; )

It's my first bunch of peonies of the season, with Oregon's mild spring they came a bit later this year, but they were definitely worth the wait.

Memorial day at my Home

Happy Memorial day my Luvs!

We are still trying to decide what to do with a whole day off but I am sure no matter what we decide we will have a ball just being together.

My sweet hubby got me the ikea countertop for mother's day and we finally got it installed on our "kitchen island". It was only $49 compared to the $400 and upwards choice of marble and marble knockoffs. I am so excited to be able to actually use this extra countertop space now!

I hope you have a wonderful day with your families and remembering those we have lost.

Monday at My Home

It's the start of a new week and to tell the truth Evie and I are always a tad sad on Mondays because Papa has to go back to work. But at least I can look at our pretty recovered chairs that he helped me with. I recovered them and he screwed them back in. The wood that they used in the bottom of the chairs was cheap so when I first recovered them I accidently striped out the wood, making it very hard to keep the screws in. Luckily he was able to use wood filler and longer screws and that seemed to do the trick. What would we do without you lover?!

Mother's day was so wonderful except for the fact that poor baby girl came down with a cold. We took turns staying home with her so she could get plenty of rest. Richard went to church with his Mom and then my whole family pitched in to help clean my Moms house. After some good elbow greese was used I came home to homemade caesar salad with homemade croutons that Richard and Evie had made together. Isn't that too precious? Evie was so excited to show me what they had done and she kept saying "happy birthday" instead of Happy Mothers day. So sweet!

Okay enough of me gushing, ; ) here's the recovered kitchen chairs. I used a pleather instead of a vinyl, both wipe up easily but pleather is a bit softer.
Didn't they turn out fun?

Monday at My Home

Good morning my Luvs!
I have been so excited to show you all my latest project, it has been so hard to wait until Monday to finally show you. This proved a little more tricky becuase we had to replace the back and the drawer bottoms (due to water damage) of the dresser and paint everything!
Didn't it turn it out so cute?!! I was nervous the pink would be too crazy but I think it turned out just crazy enough. I love how bright the kitchen looks now, it's amazing how a little paint totally transformed the space. I have to give to give credit where credit is due cause I totally snagged this dresser/kitchen island idea from The Nate Show. Thanks Nate!

Project- Kitchen Island

Step one... dicker price down at Goodwill.
Step two... haul it home.
Step three... sand badly scraped up dresser.
Step four... paint top white (until we can get white marble top made for it)
IMG_4138.JPG

Step five... paint lower part pink.
IMG_4139.JPG

Step six... needs more paint.
IMG_4141.JPG

Step seven... persuade hubby to saw off handles (cause they are very old and someone mushroomed out the screws so they won't come off)
Step eight... paint drawers.
Step nine... replace bottom of drawers.
Done!

Monday at My Home

I am so happy to finally show you the headboard!
IMG_3523.JPG

I loved Cassie's comment on this post, where she said that pink pipping might look really cute with it. She was right!
IMG_3525.JPG

I used fabric glue to attach this ribbon to the bed skirt.
IMG_3527.JPG

And we asked Santa for this Duvet cover so I hope he gets the message!
It's from PB teen.

All we need now is the curtain and pillows to arrive and we should be good to go. BTW this is Evie's Christmas present so shhhh don't tell her! ; )

The problem and the solotion

To start off let me just apologize for doing so many posts about Evie's big girl room. I am really just obsessing about it and hey what good is this blog if I can't get out all my obsessions here right?!!
So here's the problem... That big beautiful window, more specifically the big dome window above, lets in so much light. This may be so wonderful for the most part but not while baby girl is sleeping.
The solution... my girl Lisa from Fabulous but Frugal is making me custom curtains! That may sound really expensive but she is so reasonable!! I was shocked, she is doing floor to ceiling curtains with a black out liner so it will really block the sun. And to top it all off she found this amazing fabric that I have been wanting forever. PLUS she is throwing in two pillowcases. I am totally excited!
Thank you Lisa!

Isn't this fabric so fun and girly yet totally chic?!!!

PARTY!!!!

My sister is about one week away from introducing us all to baby number three, baby Julia Bright! So I thought we should throw her a wild party! That or a baby shower, knowing my sister I chose the latter. ; )

And my recipe for cute/affordable baby shower decor = diy hand painted pink place mats, mismatched china from the GW, cupcakes on candle stick holders, fresh cut pink roses, and ribbons hanging from the chandelier!

Cute lil diy

I have been on the look out for cute pink striped place mats. I figured they would be pretty hard to find. So I thought why not make my own? I found these place mats during our shopping trip to Z gallerie and decided to paint the pink stripes on myself. They turned out way cuter than I even thought.
So here's what to do if you want to try it too........

He did it again

Design genius Jonathan Adler did it again! He designed this little girls room for Liz Lange's home and I love how playful, young, and chic it turned out. The details are incredible with the wallpaper and matching lamp shades, the adorable pink tufted headboard, white giraffe lamp shades, and fun pattern bedspread and rug.
Whats your take on it?
